Extra maths help shouldn't break the bank
Mathly gives South African students from Grade 4 to Grade 12 access to clear study guides, worked examples, and practice questions — at a fraction of the cost of a private tutor

Start LearningBuilt by a tutor,
for every student
I'm Divan Bosman. After I finished high school, I started tutoring maths — one learner at a time, exactly the kind of one-on-one help that actually moves the needle for a student who's stuck.
The problem was never whether tutoring worked. It's that it only reaches the students whose families can afford it. For every learner I sat down with, I knew there were dozens more stuck on the exact same problem, at the exact same time, with no one to ask — not because they weren't capable, but because private tutoring was never built to scale to everyone who needed it.
The free alternatives weren't much better. Most of what's online is built for American or British classrooms, so half the terminology doesn't match what's on the chalkboard, and none of it lines up with CAPS.
So I built Mathly — the same kind of clear, one-on-one explanation I was giving in tutoring sessions, just written down and made available to every South African student, not only the ones who could book an hour of my time. It started with Grade 10 study guides. Then Grade 11. Then Grade 12. Then down to Grade 4.
I'm currently studying BCom Business Management, and Mathly is still just me — no big team, no outside funding, just someone who tutored enough students to see the gap firsthand and decided to try to close it properly. There's a lot more to build, but the goal hasn't changed: give every South African student real, curriculum-aligned help, at a price that doesn't exclude anyone.
Why Mathly is different
Built for South Africa
The content is aligned to the SA curriculum, available in English and Afrikaans — not recycled from American or British syllabi. What you study on Mathly is what comes up in your tests and exams.
Affordable by design
Mathly is priced as an alternative to expensive tutoring, not an addition to it. The goal was never to add another cost — it was to replace one that most families can't sustain.
Real support, not just content
The Max and Live Class options mean you can get actual answers to actual questions — not just a PDF to figure out alone at 10pm before a test.
Our mission
To make quality maths education accessible to every South African student, regardless of their budget
